Confusion has set in over the Queen's birthday holiday. Crystal Jones

You need to know this one thing about Monday, June 13

CANCEL your long weekend plans, June 13 will not be the Queen's birthday holiday.

That has been moved, much to the dismay of people everywhere who booked holidays or were planning to not send their kids to school.

Apple users have also been confused because the Apple calendar lists the Queen's birthday holiday as this coming Monday, however, if you click through it becomes clear that while the ACT, New South Wales, Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria are on the list, Queensland is not.

In 2016, you can celebrate her majesty on October 3.

So what's the reason for the confusion?

On 13 October 2015 amendments to the Holidays Act 1983 were passed by Parliament prescribing that from 2016, Labour Day public holiday is to be observed on the first Monday in May and the Birthday of the Sovereign (Queen's Birthday) public holiday is to be observed on the first Monday in October.

Queensland and Western Australia are the only two states who won't be celebrating on June 13 this year.
