Winter-like temperatures hit Central Queensland

THE temperatures for the past few weeks in Central Queensland has had most people wondering if winter will ever arrive this year in the region.

The overnight lows across CQ suggest it may have finally arrived.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology website, Rockhampton recorded an overnight low of 8.6 this morning at 6.20am while Yeppoon recorded 9.6 at 6.30am.

Biloela recorded 4.9 at 5.52am, Blackwater Airport 5.6 at 6.22am and Clermont 5.1 at 6.22am.

Other overnight lows recorded in Central Queensland: 

  • Mackay 10.9 at 6.24am
  • Mackay Airport 8.7 at 6.17am
  • Gladstone 12.3 at 6.57am
  • Gladstone Airport 10.5 at 6.30am
  • Moranbah 5.9 at 6.42am
  • Blackall 6.9 at 6.16am
  • Longreach 7.7 at 7am

According to the 7-day forecast for Rockhampton on BOM's website, the overnight temperatures for most of the week look to be staying around the 10 degrees celsius mark, except for Friday when the overnight low will be 15.

It looks to get even colder in the region on Sunday with an overnight low forecast of 7.
