A TOOWOOMBA remedial massage therapist is encouraging ongoing wellness by offering massage memberships.
Michelle Doole from Modified Toowoomba is changing the way society views massages.
"A massage is seen as something that's a once-off luxury where someone thinks 'I don't need to go any more because I'm feeling pretty good and I've been fixed'," she said.
"However, it's more about maintenance and to feel the full benefits of massage you need to come on a regular basis.
"So I wanted to make that affordable and achievable for the general population."
Mrs Doole is introducing Modified memberships, a yearly contract similar to a gym membership but for massages.
For $23 a week, members receive a monthly massage of their choice and 10 per cent off other services such as spray tanning and waxing alternative sugaring.
Modified Toowoomba has been around town for two years but moved to 5/189 Anzac Ave four months ago.
"I trialled the memberships with a couple of girlfriends and they love the fact that the money just came out and they didn't have to think about it," Mrs Doole said.
"It was easy to incorporate into their budget."
Mrs Doole also specialises in rock blades, an instrument-assisted form of massage known to give longer results.
"It doesn't matter who you are; whether you're a tradie, a mum, a blue collar worker, studying or even an infant - there's massage for everyone," she said.
"I've been using massage myself since I was 16. Now as a mother of three, every mum goes through a period of rediscovering themselves and in 2013 I re-found my passion for massage."
Mrs Doole said the health benefits of massages were obvious and included but were not limited to reducing stress, a clearer mindset, alleviating pain and increasing circulation.
Modified Toowoomba is also teaming up with a yoga teacher to offer yoga classes during the school term.
