What’s on in the Western Downs

Warra Races

GIDDY up for Warra's annual race day this Saturday.

The family friendly, five race program will have something to float everyone's boat from 11am with fashions on the field, market stall and barrel horse novelty races just for the kids.

Hot food, a licensed bar and tearoom will keep punters refreshed throughout the day. Tickets are $10 per person and available at the gate.

Doggies' home game

SUPPORT grassroots rugby league and enjoy a community day out this Saturday at Bulldog Park.

The Chinchilla Bulldogs are serving up four games of footy when the under 16s, under 18s, reserve grade and A-grade take on St George from 11.30am.

Holiday flicks

AS ALWAYS you can rely on Chinchilla Cinema to help keep the kids entertained these school holidays.

Family friendly flicks, Finding Dory, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Ice Age: Collision Course all have movie times locked in.

Today and tomorrow Finding Dory will be screening at both 10am and 6pm, then 1pm and 6pm on Saturday, 10am and 3pm on Sunday and at 10am on Monday, Tuesday and on Wednesday (budget day). While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be on today, tomorrow, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 12.30pm. For full movie and session times, turn to page 26.

Church Clothing Sale

WHILE you're at the polling booth on Saturday, why not pop over to the Chinchilla Uniting Church to complement your election day snag with a warm cuppa and fresh scone?

The church's monthly second-hand clothing sale is on from 9am until 11.30am.

The Chinchilla Uniting Church is located on Middle Street across the road from the Purple Bean Cafe and pharmacy.

Fingernail art morning

SCHOOL holidays don't need to mean boredom, being glued to the internet or television and driving parents mad, they can be creative, fun and hands-on.

The Western Downs Youth Hub is again helping to facilitate school holiday activities and next Wednesday will be hosting a fingernail painting and decorating morning with professional nail technician, Kristy's Nailz By Design.

Young people from 12 to 25 years are invited to attend the fun workshop from 11am until 12.30pm for $5 per person, including materials.
