Water police pull man from mangroves at Burrum Heads

WATER police have pulled a man from the Burrum River after finding him stuck in mangroves around midday.

Police called out to the man on several occasions but had no response.

Senior Constable Roland Van Es said the man eventually responded.

When police pulled him to the vessel they realised he may have been suffering from hyperthermia.

He was taken to the Ross St boat ramp where Queensland Ambulance Service treated him on the scene.

It's believed two fisherman made the discovery.

Police are unsure how long the man was in the mangroves or why he was there.

Snr Const Van Es said the man is known to police.
