Wandoan host first Kirk Reynoldson Cup
UNDER-10s from across the region gathered at Wandoan on the weekend to vie for the inaugural Kirk Reynoldson Cup.
Reynoldson was born and raised in Wandoan where his parents ran the local bus run and newsagency.
The natural athlete soon found his feet with the Toowoomba Clydesdale reserve grade, before signing with the Melbourne Storm.
Mudgeeraba took out this year's competition with Charleville coming a close second and Cunnamulla just behind them.
"The matches were very closely contested by all teams,” cup organiser Teena Doherty said.
"Kirk was an instrumental part of the cup, helping with the organising and promoting,
"The highlight of the carnival was having him refereeing some games and mentoring the players,
"We're hoping next year's cup will be bigger and better, promoting the lovely little town of Wandoan,” she said
