Murder suspect faces extradition hearing in Toowoomba

BREAKING: A man arrested in Goondiwindi over the murder of a Victorian woman this week will face an extradition hearing this afternoon.

Goondiwindi police arrested Mehmed Solmaz in the western Queensland town on Thursday.

Mr Solmaz, 60, was taken into custody and will appear at an extradition hearing in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Detectives from the Victorian Homicide Squad travelled to Toowoomba and will apply for his extradition to Victoria.

The arrest follows the suspicious death of a 61-year-old Sunshine West woman earlier this week.

The woman, named as Fatma Solmaz, was found dead inside a home on Hall St about 9pm Tuesday.
