Sunshine Coast van park at Cotton Tree ranked 4th in Qld

COTTON Tree Holiday Park has been voted one of the top 10 in the state by readers of a family tourism website.

Each year, with the help of travel-loving families, HolidayswithKids.com.au compiles a go-to list of parks for family holiday fun.

Voters are asked to take into account the park's facilities, activities for children, customer service, comfort, location, value for money and their overall experience.

Its latest survey rated Cotton Tree Holiday Park No.4 in Queensland and second best in the state's south-east corner.

"With direct access to the Maroochy River and Maroochydore Beach, a stay at Cotton Tree Holiday Park will immediately prepare the family ready for some outdoors fun," the website said.

"Surf the waves or try your hand at windsurfing, sailing and fishing in the calmer waters of the river."

HolidayswithKids.com.au also highlighted the fact that facilities next to the park included the Cotton Tree Aquatic Centre, riverside barbecues and a range of cafes and restaurants.

Tourism councillor Jason O'Pray said Cotton Tree was one of the Sunshine Coast's "real gems".

"It's a ripper of a place for families so it's no surprise that it's been rated as one of the best in the state," Cr O'Pray said.

"I'm very proud of Cotton Tree Holiday Park and shocked it wasn't rated as the best on the planet.

"You have the terrific facilities in the park, an outstanding relaxing location next to the beautiful Maroochy River and the patrolled ocean beach at Maroochydore and it's just a short walk to a whole range of eating spots, shops and services.

"We are continually upgrading the family-friendly aspects of the whole of Cotton Tree to make it an even more attractive destination for our visitors and locals."

The Park was fully booked every day of the school holidays.

Facilities include 372 powered van sites, 29 unpowered tent sites and nine villas.
