A TRUCK driver was airlifted from Miles to Brisbane after his semi trailer rolled over on the Leichardt Hwy north of Wandoan at around 11.30am on Saturday.

The Toowoomba based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter's medical team helped hospital staff to stabilise the 55-year-old Mackay man before airlifting him to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Wandoan Police Station officer-in-charge Sergeant Brad Fewtrell said the highway was closed for a number of hours following the accident and the forensic crash unit is still investigating.
