Tourism is booming, up 10%

A RECORD 7.2 million international visitors arrived in Australia in the year to June, an increase of 10%.

The International Visitor Survey by Tourism Research Australia shows the tourism industry is growing three times as fast as the rest of the economy.

International tourists spent $38.1 billion in the financial year, an increase of 14% or $4.7 billion over the year.

Thirteen of Australia's top 20 tourist sources saw record visitor arrivals, including New Zealand, China, USA, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Germany and Switzerland.
