Thousands pay tribute as region marks Anzac Centenary
CHINCHILLA RSL Sub-branch president Noel Ellem says the community's response to the Anzac Centenary has been "overwhelming".
Thousands gathered as town's throughout the Western Downs marked 100 years since Australian and New Zealand troops landed on the shores of Gallipoli.
Mr Ellem said up to 2500 people attended Chinchilla's Dawn Service at Fuller Place, with even more turning up to the Anzac Day March.
"It was fantastic - the biggest Dawn Service that I have ever seen," he said.
"I've never seen so many people willing to take part in the event."
