Thieves steal Samuel Johnson’s silver Logie from pub

COLD hearted thieves have stolen actor Samuel Johnson's silver Logie after he donated it to a pub in Brunswick for his sister's charity event.

Police were called to The Brunswick Hotel on Sydney Rd just before 8pm yesterday after reports the prestigious award had been stolen.

It's understood two men entered the pub, ordered drinks but stole the award and fled before getting into a car and driving off.

Brunswick Hotel owner and long-time friend to Johnson Richard Kruk told Nine News the star leant his award to the pub to raise funds for his sister, Connie's cancer charity.

Patrons have been able to pose up with the prestigious award and take a selfie in return for a donation for the Love Your Sister organisation.

"So many people have come in tried to take photos with it, and did the whole 'I'm going to take off with it'," he told Nine News.

"I think these guys thought it was a joke as well."

Mr Kruk said Johnson thought he was joking when told his silver Logie award had been stolen.

The award was dumped in bushes at a golf course before investigators found it in the early hours of this morning.

Victoria Police confirmed an investigation was conducted and the item soon recovered.

Police have spoken to all parties involved and they have requested no further police action.
