Teenager loses leg in work accident
A TEENAGE boy from Tara lost his left leg while still stuck in a piece of machinery in a horrific workplace accident.
Paramedics were called to the scene at about 10.20am today when the teenager reportedly kicked a cable in a piece of farming machinery that had become snagged.
His leg became trapped, and remained stuck for several hours.
Two Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopters were sent to the scene, according to a QAS Media spokesman.
After assessing the situation, the Critical Care Doctors made the call to amputate the teenager's leg while he was still trapped in the machinery.
The operation was successful, and the patient was subsequently transferred to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
