Teen keeper has another night to forget in Champions League

BENFICA goalkeeper Mile Svilar was again centre of attention as his team went down 2-0 at Manchester United in the Champions League.

Two weeks ago the 18-year-old became the youngest keeper to take part in the competition before carrying a Marcus Rashford free-kick over his own goal line.

At Old Trafford this morning (AEST) he had a mixed night, saving a penalty from Anthony Martial before a shot from Nemanja Matic rebounded off the foot of the post and hit the youngster on the back before crossing the line.

That made him the youngest player in the history of the Champions League to score an own goal and he could also do nothing as Daley Blind scored a second-half penalty to seal the win for Jose Mourinho's side.

In Rome, Chelsea's poor run in the competition continued with a 3-0 loss to Roma in Italy.

Stephan El Shaarawy scored two impressive goals - the first after 38 seconds - as the home side dominated Antonio Conte's men.

Diego Perotti got Roma's third with a long-range strike before wasting a golden chance to make it four late on.

There were some mixed results for some of Europe's giants, with Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona all held to draws.

Meanwhile, Layvin Kurzawa scored a hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain powered into the last 16 with a 5-0 rout of Anderlecht.

Bayern Munich are also in the knockout stage with a 2-1 win over Celtic.
