Tara town centre and parks transform
WESTERN Downs Regional Council beautification project of Tara parks and open spaces is well underway, rejuvenating the town centre and Lions Park.
In early November the WDRC parks and open spaces crew started planting in the town precinct and the installation of the new shade cloths in Lions Park is under way.
Tara town entrances will also be upgraded with new tree planting and garden landscaping under the first round of funding.
Council spokeswoman for parks, open spaces and cemeteries Councillor Carolyn Tillman said the beautification of the town centre and park would give new life to the spaces already enjoyed by Tara residents and would add to the greater character of the community.
"The beautification project will make a difference to the whole feel of the town,” Cr Tillman said.
"It will make it a lot nicer for the parents and children, when they are going down to the park spending their time out in nature,” she said.
"There are also a lot of health benefits of having plants.”
The council said these key infrastructure projects would lift the liveability, tourism opportunities and regional pride enjoyed by Tara residents.
