Deadly snakes still out and about during warmer weather

WHILE snake activity is settling down as the slithery reptiles begin the end of their mating season, people are reminded as the warm summer months roll on, snakes are still out and about.

Snake catcher Lee Davis said he has been receiving about three to four calls a week since October, mostly for brown snakes, pythons and red-belly blacks, who will be active until about April.

He said people should keep their backyards tidy and if they see a snake, they should assume it's venomous and stay away from it.
