Sixteenth birthday invite to come a rockin’
LIKE all Big River Rockers members, Kay Fisher knows when she turns up to the usual Monday dance session, she is in for a good time.
And after 16 years of good times, the members want to share it with the public with an invitation to their anniversary dance.
Ms Fisher said after 10 years her favourite dances were progressive.
"That's how you get to meet everyone, because you are always changing partners," Ms Fisher said.
"I first saw people dancing to rock and roll at the country music dances when I was young.
"I saw people dancing to the music and always wished I could dance like that."
She also said she loved music from the rock era, like Elvis Presley.
"It's good to listen to and sing along, often out of tune," she laughs.
Ms Fisher said the Big River Rockers were involved with community events and often performed at nursing homes.
They always make sure they get involved in the Grafton Agricultural Show and the Venetian Carnival.
At their birthday celebration, they hope to give to the community a little more by offering free entry to the public.
"The dancing feels good," Ms Fisher said.
"We just have a good time and enjoy ourselves."
