Single vehicle rollover at Chinchilla weir

THREE young men have narrowly escaped serious injury after a single vehicle rollover this afternoon at the Chinchilla Weir.

Ambulance, fire and police units were all deployed to the crash scene along Chinchilla Tara Road 10 minutes south-east of Chinchilla.

The driver, who wishes to remain unidentified, was visibly shaken by the events.

"I can't believe I could have just killed my friends,” he said to the Chinchilla News.

Remarkably, the driver and one of the passengers escaped without a scratch, while the second passenger sustained some minor head injuries and was transported to Chinchilla Hospital for further examination.

It is alleged the men, in their early 20s, were joyriding at the weir when the driver lost control of the car and rolled.

"I'm just glad I had my seatbelt on,” the unharmed passenger said.

"It could have been a lot worse.”
