Shorten says MP's failure to declare house 'unacceptable'

OPPOSITION Leader Bill Shorten has said a Labor colleague's failure to declare a $2.3 million house he owns in inner-city Melbourne is "unacceptable".

Fairfax Media reported yesterday that Mr Feeney had failed to declare he owned the Northcote house on the Register of Members' Interest for nearly three years.

Mr Feeney, who is contesting his seat of Batman, has admitted the failure, blaming a "maelstrom of events".

But Mr Shorten said it was "unacceptable" and he had told Mr Feeney "how displeased I am".
