Severe storm warning for Clarence Valley

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Clarence Valley.

Severe thunderstorms could produce destructive winds, hailstones and heavy rainfall over the next few hours that could produce flash flooding.

The SES advises that people should move their car under cover and away from trees and secure loose items around the house.

Keep clear of fallen power lines, and do not attempt to walk, ride or drive through flood water.

Stay indoors and away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

Unplug computers and appliances, and avoid using the phone during the storm, however for emergency help in floods and storms, contact the SES on 132 500.
