Royals arrive in Australia, ready for Remembrance Day

PRINCE Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have arrived in Australia.

The royal couple will spend Remembrance Day at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

Ceremonies will be held across the country to recognise Remembrance Day with one minutes silence to be held at 11am.

Remembrance Day coincides with the signing of the treaty ending First World War hostilities on the "11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" in 1918.

Following the ceremony the royals are expected to spend the afternoon at Government House where they will meet with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.

Later this week they will visit the new National Anzac Centre in Albany, Western Australia to mark the Gallipoli centenary.
