Roy Hodgson named as new Crystal Palace manager

ROY Hodgson says he can turn things round at Crystal Palace after being named as the new manager of the English Premier League club.

Palace is second from bottom in the EPL and sacked boss Frank de Boer after losing all four league games to begin the campaign without scoring a goal.

Hogson, 70, sacked by England after a poor Euro 2016 tournament is the oldest manager in the league and said he was glad to be at the helm of the club he supported as a boy.

He was determined things could improve at Selhurst Park.

"I don't honestly believe that there is necessarily a lot that needs to be done,” he told Palace TV.

"You can always get off to a bad start, (but) what we've got to remember is our fate will be decided after 38 games, not four.

"We've got to work hard to get back on track but I know that my attitude is shared by the players and it is my job to let them know what I want from them.”

Ray Lewington, Hodgson's deputy with England, will also be his assistant at Selhurst Park having had two spells as the club's caretaker manager.
