The Kmart product that could literally blow up in your face
A POPULAR Kmart product used for camping has been recalled, over concerns a defect could cause a fire or explosion.
Product Safety Australia and Energy Safe Victoria issued the recall for a portable single burner butane gas stove - both brands 'Active & Co' and 'Jackeroo'.
PSA advise that gas leakage may occur while the product is in use, and if the defect occurs during use "there is a possibility of fire or explosion".
Customers should cease using this product immediately and return it to any Kmart store for a full refund.
The products were available for sale across Australian stores between December 2015 to April 21, 2017.
For more information consumers can contact Kmart Customer Service on 1800 124 125 Monday - Friday between 7am and 7pm or go to www.kmart.com.au
Ford vehicles recalled
Meanwhile, a problem with airbags in two popular Ford models has caused a national recall of those affected.
Vehicles involved include certain Ranger vehicles built from October 29, 2016 through to February 24, 2017 and certain Everest vehicles built from October 29, 2016 through to January 27 2017.
Product Safety Australia issued the recall notice on Friday, saying the airbag initiators within the side airbag modules of certain Ranger and Everest vehicles may contain an incorrect chemical mixture.
"This incorrect chemical mixture could cause the airbag inflator not to initiate, resulting in the side airbag not deploying in the event of a crash and increasing the risk of injury to occupants," the notice said. "As of date of publication, there have been no reported cases in Australia.
Ford will write to owners of all affected vehicles. Owners are advised to contact their Ford authorised Dealership for inspection and rectification free of charge.
Until the Safety Recall Service is completed it is recommended that vehicles are driven with caution and at moderate speed. For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford's Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
