Popular QLD shoping centre evacuated

CUSTOMERS at a popular southeast Queensland shopping centre were evacuated after a fire broke out inside a store.

Customers inside of Kmart at the Logan Hyperdome fled the store after a fire was seen at around 1.45pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports that a fire had ignited a clothing rack.

It is understood that firefighters extinguished the blaze and were able to keep it from spreading to other stores.

A QFES spokesman said three fire crews were in attendance and are now conducting secondary searches and testing to see if smoke remains in the air.

Fire investigators have been asked to look into what sparked the fire.

A Queensland Police spokesman said they would also be investigating the cause of the fire and it was currently being treated as "suspicious."
