LETTERS: Poor treatment for pensioners
IT'S official: Australian pensioners are among the shabbiest treated in the developed world.
A new OECD report says we have the second-lowest age pension out of 33 developed nations and the discrepancy between the average wage and the pension is among the highest.
It seems our highly-paid politicians have the answer; cut part-pensions and grab another pay rise for themselves and public servants.
The next federal election will be a shock for Liberals and Labor.
The Libs managed to bash part-pensioners with the help of Labor's mates, the Greens (thanks to Sarah Hanson-Young, who overspent her entitlements by more than $8000 last year).
Pensioners should also thank Julie Bishop for wasting $30,000 on a charter flight:
That's nearly a year's pension for a couple and $8000 more than a year's pension for a single.
