Police seize 240,000 'hits' of ice in raids worth $18m

A MASSIVE synchronised police operation across south-east Queensland has netted 3kg of ice, more than 100,000 ecstasy pills, $60,000 in cash and weapons cache.

The seizure is estimated to be worth more than $18 million.

Police conducted simultaneous dawn raids today at Redbank Plains, Goodna, Springfield, Camira, Hollywell, Booval, Edens Landing and Logan Central.

Police also stopped a car at Tugun on Monday night and discovered a further 2kg of ice.

A semi-automatic handgun, rifle, and two more sawn-off rifles were also found in the raids.

The amount of ice taken by police amounts to more than 240,000 'hits' of the drug.

Detectives began the operation 12 months ago, with their investigation evolving as they discovered their leads formed part of a larger syndicate allegedly trafficking the incredibly addictive drug beyond Queensland's borders.

.Police believe the "number of people" they now have in custody are members of the Nomads and Commancheros Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.

Detective Acting Superintendent Brendan Smith from Task Force Maxima said the operation has made the community safer for all Queensland families.

"Taskforce Maxima and the QPS remain resolute in our efforts against those involved in supply of the dangerous drug ice," he said.

"We will continue to use all resources available to us in an effort to stop crime and these gangs need to understand this. While they are involved in crime will continue to target them.

Investigations are continuing.
