Teen charged after stolen car chase

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy was arrested and charged after police intercepted a stolen vehicle at Springfield early on Thursday.

Police said two vehicles were stolen from a Forest Lake house late Wednesday night.

An unmarked Ipswich crew later spotted the vehicles in the Carole Park area, following one of them as it headed towards Springfield.


Another crew deployed a tyre deflation device on Springfield Parkway about 1.20am, stopping the vehicle.

The male driver ran off into nearby bushland but was quickly apprehended by police.

A 15-year-old Acacia Ridge boy has been charged with one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
