Police allegedly kicked in guts during arrest

A TEEN accused of holding a police officer by the throat and kicking two others in the stomach has been released to live in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Anthony Senelmea Tarai was handcuffed and wearing watch house-brown attire when he appeared in custody before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

The 18-year-old was arrested after an incident at a Kuluin home on Sunday night.

A police objection to a bail affidavit tendered to the court said four officers had gone to the home about 9.20pm to speak with Tarai about another matter.

The document said Tarai pushed a male officer before getting on top of him and placing his hands around his throat.

Two women officers tried to help their colleague by grabbing Tarai's arms, the document read.

Tarai allegedly kicked the man and two women in the stomach before he was arrested.

He was charged with four counts of serious assault of police as well as for possession of marijuana and a pipe.

The bail objection stated the male officer suffered redness to his throat and scatches to his left arm, a female officer had pain to her stomach and her right arm and the other female officer had pain to both arms and her stomach area.

Tarai was granted bail on Monday on the condition he live with his sister at Flaxton.
