Pigs purposely run over off side of road or shot

THE owner of pet pigs purposely run over in Rockhampton is appealing for help to identify the person or people involved in killing three pigs last week.

The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the pigs escaped their yard sometime after 9.30pm on Thursday and were found dead about 8am on Friday.

"A friend has said that they saw the piglets dead at 7am ( they were right beside the road)," the owner said.

"They were walking home just beside the road along South Yaamba Rd, Alton Downs near deep creek.

"They were only a couple of hundred metres from home.

"The sow was found well off the road in trees and had been shot.

"Another friend who is a neighbour said he heard a gunshot at around 5.30am."

"Yeah they were run over as a mob. The sow, one red one and one white one were killed."

The owner said a little red one was missed.

"He has since arrived home safely."

Anyone with information about the pigs should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day or the Rockhampton Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Unit on 4932 3681.
