PHOTO GALLERY: Imaginations come alive for Book Week parade
MARY Poppins, Miss Trunchbull and a dozen Marvel superheroes all gathered on the Chinchilla State School oval Friday morning to celebrate this year's Book Week and encourage a love of reading.
Chinchilla State School students from prep through to year six came dressed to impress with each class representing a book they've been reading together as a class this semester.
The 2019 Book Week theme, "reading is my super power” was heartily supported by Miss Bett's year 6 class who all came as their favourite comic book heroes.
"Book Week is all about nurturing and encouraging student's love of books,” she said.
"It's wonderful to see everyone dressed up promoting a love of reading to our younger members of the school and our student's younger siblings who might not have started school yet.
Chinchilla State School captain, Lori Adam said this year's theme was a great way for students to embody their favourite literary characters.
"Reading really is like having a superpower because it gives you knowledge, a sense of imagination and so many important life skills,” she said.
The year 6 student admitted while the Harry Potter series was her favourite book of all time, she was currently enjoying "Don't Pat the Wombat” by Elizabeth Honey which she is reading with the rest of her class.
