Officer Buster assists in 14kg of Cannabis find

NSW POLICE and their canine companion Buster uncovered 14kg of cannabis during a traffic operation on the Queensland NSW border.   

Sniffing out the haul, Buster helped locate the substantial amount of cannabis in vacuum sealed in packs and wedged under the back seat of the rental van early Sunday morning.  

The drugs were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.  

The driver, a 29-year-old Victorian man, was arrested and taken to Bogabilla Police Station and charged with supply indictable quantity of drugs.  

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Moree Local Court on 14 June 2017.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy of the state's Traffic & Highway Patrol Command said operations targeting heavy vehicles and dangerous drivers in the Western region will continue to be a focus for police.  

"In addition to targeting dangerous drivers, our officers will continue to target those who are using our roads to transport drugs," he said.   

"Our dedicated officers who have undertaken CATCH training continue to deliver results for the community in removing drugs off our streets," Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.
