WEDDED bliss has sadly turned into a wedded miss for Married At First Sight's golden couple.

In a shock split that is sure to break the hearts of the show's millions of viewers, Booval lad Simon McQuillan and his TV bride, Western Sydney nurse Alene Khatcherian have gone their separate ways.

Insiders said McQuillan had recently ended things, leaving Khatcherian, 31, devastated and mutual friends scratching their heads in disbelief.

Despite vowing to stay together after meeting on the hit Channel Nine show last year, the couple last night confirmed their relationship was over.

"It was a difficult decision but we have decided to part ways. We remain the greatest of friends and we will continue to be part of each others' lives,” the pair said in a statement.

Friends are at a loss as to what went wrong, with the couple's inner circle describing them as the "perfect couple”.

However, the pair had made no secret of the fact that they struggled with the idea of living in different states.

And it looks like 37-year-old Queenslander McQuillan has wasted no time looking for new love, with a profile appearing to be his this week spotted on dating app Tinder.
