A MAN who allegedly attacked a woman with a hammer and a knife in Brisbane's east last night was arrested this afternoon after TV crews stumbled upon him at the scene of the crime.
Seven and Nine were filming at the Norman Park AirBnb about 2pm when they found the man sitting on a bed in a bloodstained room.
Police, who had been searching for the Singaporean man, were alerted and officers stormed the scene soon after.
Police confirmed the man was arrested just after 2pm.
It is alleged the woman was hit in the head with a hammer before repeatedly being stabbing at the Airbnb place in Brisbane.
An AirBnb spokesman said: "We are deeply concerned by the reports of what happened and are actively working with the Queensland Police Department to assist them with their investigation."
The 20-year-old victim was visiting the Norman Park house the man was renting when she was struck in the head and then stabbed in the upper body with a knife about 9.30pm on Monday.
The alleged attacker, a 30-year-old Singaporean national, arrived in the country on Sunday, police say.
It has been reported the owners of the house overheard the attack, causing him to flee without his wallet or passport.
"We believe he has no access to funds whatsoever, so he may well in fact still be wearing boxer shorts and a T-shirt with no shoes," Insp Steve Flori said. The woman has been taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition and her injures are not considered life threatening.
Police have released a photo of the man they're seeking. He's of slim build and was last seen barefoot, wearing a white T-shirt and red and black boxer shorts. He has distinctive dyed blond hair and has managed to elude the dog squad officers in Brisbane.
