Father of six identified as victim of Lake Somerset drowning
UPDATE: The victim of a drowning at Lake Somerset on Wednesday night has been identified as a Mount Delaney man.
Father of six Alan Solomon was out on the water in a canoe checking yabbie pots when strong winds hit the area at about 6pm.
It is believed at some point the 48-year-old fell from the canoe and attempted to swim to shore.
However the conditions were too severe with wind gusts of up to 80km/h recorded on the night.
A friend managed to raise the alarm but Mr Solomon tragically drowned before help could arrive.
His family said he would be remembered as a keen motorcyclist, fisherman, bee keeper and loyal father.
