Man accused of stabbing a couple in Kuttabul seeks bail

THERE will be a bail application for the South Australian man accused of the attempted murder of a young mother at Kuttabul.

It is anticipated lawyers for Jason Wayne Greatbatch, 35, will argue over whether of not he should remain in custody while his matters are before the court later this month.

Greatbatch is charged with the attempted murder of Teagan Moore at Kuttabul on December 28, 2015.

He is also charged with one count each of acts intended to maim/disfigure/disable, common assault and enter dwelling with intent at night.

He was not required to appear when the matter was mentioned in the Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.

Defence solicitor Geoff Govey, who is acting as town agent, asked the matters be set down for a bail application on January 21.
