Man accused of recording sexual abuse of girl on phone

A TOWNSVILLE man will face court accused of sexually assaulting his partner's daughter from when the girl was aged 11 and recording the abuse on a mobile phone.

The 47-year-old man has been charged with 11 counts of indecent treatment and 11 counts of making child exploitation material.

He has also been charged with one count of making recordings in breach of privacy and another of possession of tainted property.

Townsville Child Protection Sexual Crimes Unit officer-in-charge Detective­ Senior Sergeant Dave Miles said police alleged the man had been taking advantage of the girl, now 14, at night while she was sleeping.

It is alleged the offences occurred between 2013 and 2017.
