Kangaroo rescue 'a day in the life' of Gundy policeman

A DAY in the life of a Goondiwindi Police officer regularly includes interesting situations an officer in the city wouldn't normally face.

For Constable Vaughan Clacher, rescuing a kangaroo is just another day on the job.

During a random highway patrol, Const Clacher pulled over to check on a kangaroo that had been hit by a car.

The kangaroo had sustained significant injuries and the officer decided he needed to euthanise it.

While he was dealing with the kangaroo, Const Clacher noticed a joey poking it's head out of her pouch.

Const Clacher wrapped the joey in a blanket.

The lucky joey was recused by the Macintyre Animal Rescue Services and found a foster home shortly after.

Const Clacher said it just goes to show you never know what this job has around the corner, you end up going to a job and expect one thing and something else totally different happens.
