FOOTBALL: Barambah proudly hosted a full schedule of junior soccer on Saturday including teams from Chinchilla and Dalby.
There was not a spare field to be seen at Barambah's home ground with the club hosting the Interclub challenge with travelling teams from Chinchilla and Dalby as well as the regular weekly Barambah fixtures.
Some of the country's future football stars were on show playing to a loud crowd of family and friends during the Interclub challenge.
In the 12/13's game Barambah played Dalby with Barambah very strong in attack peppering the Dalby goalkeeper with pleanty of shots but the Dalby defense was up tot he challenge.
In the cadets game, Dalby played Kingaroy and both teams put in a five star effort.
The interclub challenge combines teams from the South Burnett region and afar in a series of matches throughout the season.
Boys and girls in the 12/13s competition and cadets (ranging from 14-16) meet teams they wouldn't normally play against to test their skills against different players.
South Burnett Football Chairperson, Sarah Vanderkolk said the interclub challenge has a unique way of deciding on a winner.
"There won't be any finals matches, the winners will be decided by the highest points for the season. The first past the post so to speak,” Vanderkolk said.
On the final day of the interclub challenge teams will play in two games.
At this stage, there is no clear favorite as to who will take out the premiership in either gardes.
"It is very tight in both grades. The games on that final day in Chinchilla will become crucial to determining a winner,” Vanderkolk said.
The final day of the interclub challenge will be held on Saturday August 25 at the Chinchilla soccer club.
