JUDAH Kelly is the first singer through to the battles round on The Voice.

The Laidley talent, who used to live in Mackay, took on an Adele song in his three-way competition against Kelly Read and Fasika Ayallew.

His rendition of When We Were Young blew the coaching panel away, with Seal exclaiming 'Oh wow where did that come from?'.

Delta couldn't go past Judah's powerhouse voice and its pure tone.

"This is a really hard decision because you're all artists worthy of going through," she said.

"The person I'd like to take through is a person I feel the amount of talent in them is incredible. The person I'm choosing is Judah."

Judah's performance was a hit with viewers as well.

If he can make it through the battle round, Judah's popularity with the public will put him in good stead for the live shows, during which the public vote decides who progresses each week.

Fasika was saved by Kelly Rowland, while Kelly was eliminated.
