James, Irving keep Cavaliers’ dreams alive

BASKETBALL: Two of the great NBA finals performances by a pair of teammates have kept Cleveland’s competition hopes alive, after the Cavaliers’ stunning 112-97 win over Golden State.

LeBron James (pictured) and Kyrie Irving scored 41points each in their team’s upset win in Oakland to now trail the series 3-2 heading into game six in Cleveland on Friday morning.

James and Irving became the first pair of teammates to score 40 or more points in the same NBA finals game.

The Warriors, on the other hand, went cold, hitting just 14-of-42 shots (33.3%) from beyond the arc.

The Warriors’ day was further soured with Aussie centre Andrew Bogut suffering a knee injury. He was to have an MRI today.

Bogut picked up three rebounds and three blocks, while fellow Aussie Matthew Dellavedova conceded three fouls in just three minutes on the court for the Cavs.
