He did it: 81-year-old Otto Acron bench pressed 81kg

OTTO Acron originally set himself a goal to bench press 80kg.

But the 81-year-old thought he may as well bench press his age in weight, and went up a notch.

Mr Otto successfully bench pressed 81kg on Sunday, which may be the Australian record for someone of his age.

Follow this "warm-up", came the next challenge at the Brench Press and Pushups for Inner Peace event at the Integrated Martial Arts Wellbeing Centre.

Twenty-two participants came together to perform 22 sets of 22 pushups.

Two of those involved were just 11 years old.

Performing the 484 pushups took the team just 39 minutes.

Mr Otto, a past Hervey Bay resident and business owner, came up from Tasmania for the special day.

The event was a fundraiser for Beyond Blue, with the final sum raised to be tallied in the coming days.
