Hawthorn Hawks to roll out stars for St Kilda Saints clash

HAWTHORN is set to ramp up its preparations for the round-one clash against Geelong after naming 19 players from last year's premiership side in tomorrow night's NAB Challenge match against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

Grant Birchall (knee), Matt Spangher (calf) and David Hale are the only players from the side that demolished the Swans by 63 points last September to be left out of the 27-man squad.

Former Demon James Frawley, ex-Giant Jono O'Rourke and the talented, but injury-prone Jed Anderson (pictured) are among the players hoping to press their claims for a spot in the season-opener against the Cats on Easter Monday

St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt will go into the season without a practice match under his belt after he was not included in the Saints squad.

The star forward returned to training just last week after the death of his sister Madeleine last month.
