Grand Central confirms 'exciting' fashion store

BREAKING: With excitement building for the opening of the redeveloped Grand Central a new fashion retailer has been confirmed.

Leading accessories brand MIMCO is joining a number of other powerhouse fashion brands to open their doors on September 15 as part of stage one of the centre's $500 million redevelopment.

Part of Country Road Group, MIMCO Grand Central boutique will feature the latest store design, including luxury materials and multi-sensory experiences, giving customers access to new season luxury accessories in a world-class retail environment.

The label is known for its bags, jewellery, shoes, accessories and gifts.

MIMCO managing director Sarah Rovis said the brand was excited to be coming to Toowoomba.

The fashion retailer has experienced exceptional growth from its humble beginnings in 1996, and has secured its position as the country's most loved accessories brand.

Based in Melbourne, MIMCO designs unique accessories collections including handbags, small leather goods, jewellery and shoes for strong individuals who are drawn to something different.

Grand Central retail manager Kathleen Hart said the announcement demonstrated the strength of the development and retailer confidence in Toowoomba as a regional hub.  

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome MIMCO, one of Australia's favourite accessories brands, to Grand Central," Ms Hart said.

"We're looking forward to launching our range of new fashion retailers this month.  But being only the first exciting stage of our development, with the majority of stores coming online next year - there's a lot more to come."

The company is known for its social conscience and has signed indigenous talent and supported campaigns against domestic violence.
