GALLERY: Roma footy fans hit the town for Origin night

ROMA residents proudly sported maroon, while some dared to bare blue, for the second State of Origin game on Wednesday night.

Establishments around town got in to the footy spirit, with staff dressing up for the night and decorations strewn around rooms.

Cinema Roma hosted a special screening of the game with pizza and snacks thanks to the Maranoa School Chaplaincy who put on the fund-raiser dinner for all the footy fanatics.

Crowds packed the pubs and hotels in hope of seeing the maroons smash the blues, but things were looking dire after a miserable first half.

The atmosphere picked up in the second half when the maroons regained momentum and were just one try and a conversion away from the lead.

The crowds erupted when the final try was scored by Dane Gagai and converted by Jonathan Thurston and the maroons reigned victorious.
