‘Furious’ daughter scorches ‘disgusting’ former AFL star
Kate Jesaulenko, the daughter of AFL great Alex Jesaulenko, has slammed Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes for suggesting Jesaulenko's mark in the 1970 VFL Grand Final was overrated.
Cornes suggested last week the mark, often cited as one of the most iconic moments in footy history, wouldn't be in the top 50 marks of all-time.
Jesaulenko's daughter Kate called up a radio station today and was put to air, where she hit back at the 300-gamer.
"I am absolutely furious that Kane Cornes would come out and say Dad's mark was overrated," she said on SEN Drive.
"I find it disgusting, disgraceful, I cannot believe that I don't even know who he is would come out and make such a comment not only on an iconic footballer but an iconic father, an iconic husband.
"I am beside myself, I just cannot believe it.
"I think he's completely incorrect. I don't know where this kid, I don't even know who he is, gets off saying that a legend of the game with such an iconic moment is overrated.
"Jesaulenko you beauty is one of the biggest, iconic moments in Australian football rules, Victorian football rules, whatever you want to call it.
"For him to come out and try to degrade it… I don't know if he's looking for a contract, I don't know if his contract is about to run up, I don't know if he's trying to cause controversy, but I don't know who Kane Cornes is, who Kane Cornes thinks he is bagging my father and saying that he is overrated.
"It is disgraceful, it's disgusting, he's bagging a legend of the game and I am absolutely disgusted.
With Cornes certain to hear the comments, Jesaulenko was not interested in him reaching out to clarify his comments.
"I just want to say to be honest I don't really care what Kane Cornes thinks in the future, Im not interested," she said.
" I think his comments were absolutely disgraceful and there is no place in football for him to say what he said."
