Firefighters race to vehicle fire in Chinchilla

1pm UPDATE:

Initial reports of a car on fire on Chinchilla Tara Rd, were not as serious as suspected.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said once the crew arrived on scene there was no apparent fire or smoke coming from the vehicle, and police were not needed at the scene.

"RACQ is on the way with a tow truck," she said. 

EARLIER:

At 11.30am Chinchilla Police and a Queensland Fire and Emergency crew received reports of a car on fire in Wieambilla on Tara Chinchilla Rd.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said a crew is rushing to the scene to battle the blaze.
