Fine for teen after Hungry Jack’s fight

SHOCKED Hungry Jack's diners watched on as a car park brawl spilled into the fast-food outlet.

Staff had to step in to stop the fight involving Meleisha Allie-Ann Irene Smith.

Last week Smith, 17, appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court.

She pleaded guilty to a charge of public nuisance after the fight in the North Rockhampton Hungry Jack's car park on March 5.

The court heard Smith and two other women had been fighting in the car park of the fast-food outlet about 8pm.

Police prosecutor Clancy Fox said when one of the women ran into Hungry Jack's, Smith followed and chased her around the store in front of other diners.

He said as Smith started to leave the store, the third woman entered and the fight erupted again.

Mr Fox said a large crowd had gathered by this time and Hungry Jack's staff broke up the fight.

CCTV footage showed Smith running from the store, as well as taking part in the earlier fight.

Police later located Smith in Card St, Berserker, where she admitted she had been in a fight with the women.

Mr Fox said Smith had a recent conviction for common assault as an adult.

Defence solicitor Shayne Studdert said the fight was part of an ongoing feud between the women.

Magistrate Michael O'Driscoll fined Smith $500, but did not record a conviction.

Smith also had to pay $600 for a good behaviour bond which was revoked.
