Family confronts crazed man fleeing 'foot soldiers'

A MOTHER has told of her family's terror when a strange man charged in to her house, rambling incoherently.

Alexandra Carter said a man in his late 20s jumped a fence into her yard, claiming he was being chased by "Toowoomba foot soldiers".

The mother was hanging up her washing and asked him to leave but he walked straight into her house, continuing to ramble about the group.

The man then confronted her frightened children saying Ms Carter's son was a friend of a man called Damien.

She told the man "that is my child, I don't know who you are or who you are on about but you need to leave".

As the man went to the front window of the house to peer out the curtains, the mother acted quickly, removing a knife block from the bench and hiding it in the oven.

The stranger repeatedly asked "where is Damien?"

The quick-thinking mother told the man "West St" and the man ran the opposite way out of the house "quicker than Flash Gordon".

Ms Carter said he was 180cm tall wearing jeans and a white shirt with a tattoo on his left arm.

She said he had a scruffy appearance, a red mark on bridge of nose and was carrying a white bag with red straps.

"He was clearly on some sort of drug," she wrote on a popular Toowoomba crime page.

"I asked if he could leave, offered to call a friend for him, soon as I offered to call police he started to get agitated, this was a lengthy and slow process to get this individual away from my property before I was able to call police," she said.

Ms Carter described it as a very "stressful and scary" situation.

The incident took place in Newtown.
