End of an era for Elders Chinchilla
FRIDAY was an emotional day for Elders Chinchilla co-owners Tess Bourke and Kev Fenton as they shut the doors on a business they built together from the ground up.
“The end of an era” is how Mr Fenton described the moment they walked out the door for the last time after eight years as partners in the real estate trade.
The operation has been bought by Surat Basin Real Estate and settlement took place on Friday.
Back in 2008, business was booming in Chinchilla and the two teamed up to open a real estate business – starting with just one listing. Since then they’ve been through three floods and two hailstorms, “so we went through the lot”, Mr Fenton said.
“It was an exciting time, and there was a lot of hard work in the beginning, especially for Tess.
“It’s had its ups and downs, but overall it’s been pretty good. We’ve enjoyed the journey.”
Ms Bourke is now working for Elders in Toowoomba.
Mr Fenton is continuing his work in livestock sales and is still booking cattle into Dalby, Toowoomba and Roma saleyards. He can be contacted on 0409 033 988.
