High speed and drink driving blamed for power pole crash

A DRIVER who crashed into a power pole in Kingaroy on Wednesday was allegedly more than three times over the alcohol limit.

The 50-year-old Murgon woman was driving west along Haly St at high speed when she lost control of her Holden Commodore on the roundabout at the intersection of First Ave.

The car ran off the road and collided with a power pole.

Witnesses told police the driver got out of the car and ran from the scene.

Officers later found her behind a garage at a house nearby.

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said a breath alcohol concentration test showed the woman to have a reading of 0.162%.

"Police will be alleging she was grossly intoxicated and extremely affected," he said.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and checks showed the woman's driver's licence was expired.

A DRIVER who crashed into a power pole in Kingaroy on Wednesday was allegedly more than three times over the alcohol limit.

The Kingaroy woman's Holden Commodore collided with the pole on the intersection of Haly St and First Ave just after 4pm.

Police said she returned a breath test reading of 0.162%

She was also found to be unlicensed.

EARLIER

A WHITE Holden Commodore crashed into a power pole on the First Ave and Haly St intersection in Kingaroy this afternoon.

The female driver fled the scene and has since been found by police.

Kingaroy police are testing the woman for a blood alcohol reading.

There are no power outages in the area.

The road is blocked off on the corner of Haly St and First Ave.
